About The Opportunity
Our client, who is a mid-size organization located in the east end of Ottawa is looking for a Controller to join their growing team. You would be responsible for overseeing the financial activities of the organization and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee all financial operations including accounting, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Manage the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
  • Monitor cash flow and financial performance to support effective cash management and decision-making
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate completion of audits and tax filings
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and industry best practices, and ensure compliance with relevant standards
  • Manage and develop the finance team, providing guidance, training, and support as needed
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA is an asset
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a financial management role managing others
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis techniques, and internal controls
  • Knowledge of payroll processes and regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in financial management software, ERP system is preferred
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
