Job Description
Our client is seeking a Controller to join their team. This individual will report directly to the Director of Finance and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s finances.
The Controller will play a key role in financial planning, record-keeping, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. They will also provide leadership and guidance to the accounting team, which includes the Assistant Controller and Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the accounting team in their monthly tasks, including recording transactions and assessing our financial health.
- Generate monthly reports for management, offering explanations of our financial performance in comparison to our plans.
- Analyze profit and loss statements, with a particular focus on maximizing revenue and minimizing expenses.
- Maintain vigilance over our cash flow and ensure accurate tax compliance across various jurisdictions.
- Contribute to the annual budgeting process and regularly monitor our progress against budgeted targets.
- Ensure the security and efficiency of our financial processes.
- Provide support and guidance to team members to help them excel in their roles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- CPA designation.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, reporting standards, taxation, and controls.
- Minimum of 8 years of financial experience, including 5 years in a managerial capacity.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated talent for motivating and guiding a team.
- Familiarity with financial software such as AS/400, Blackline, and Hyperion is a plus.
- Experience in the distribution industry is preferred.
