Position Overview We require a Controller, Hospitality who will be accountable for completing all financial statements, maintaining accounting records, setting controls and ensuring accuracy and compliance of the company’s financials. The Controller, Hospitality will be responsible for supervising and helping the hospitality accounting team, working closely with the Corporate Controller on providing accurate, reliable, and timely key performance indicators (KPIs) for reporting to management. Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 yearly Shifts: Full-time, Permanent Location: Canmore or Calgary Key Responsibilities: Accounting Operations / Financial Reporting Standard: Ensure accurate and timely processing of A/R, A/R, payroll and GL entries Ownership of the full cycle accounting process, including the accurate and timely production of financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Coordinate and oversee the preparation of year-end audit working papers Review and remit GST, hotel taxes, quarterly/monthly/annually As part of the monthly closing process, determine the necessary procedures needed, review journal entries/account reconciliations and prepare appropriate analytics. Help to review intercompany accounting entries Oversee the payroll process and Payroll supervisor and ensure compliance Performs any other related tasks as may be assigned by the Corporate Controller Budgeting / Compliance & Audits Standard: Lead the process with annual budgets for all hotels and operating companies. Work closely with Corporate Controller and VP of Operations to develop budgets for all hotels and operational companies Investigate and report discrepancies in budget vs actuals for hotels and op companies Monitoring cash requirements daily and producing monthly cash forecasts. Maintain internal controls over the financial transactions and financial reporting Standard: Lead the Hospitality accounting team Manage and mentor the Hospitality accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial information. Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization Create and promote a positive and supportive work environment. Responsible for probation and annual review of direct reports. Review professional development with the hospitality accounting team annually. Requirements 3-5 years of experience in a Controller position. CPA designation – an asset. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Strong leaderships skills and ability to oversee a team. Detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy. Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure.
