Job Description

Our client is looking for a Construction Project Manager in both Surrey and Nanaimo locations to perform a variety of duties related to planning, estimating, scheduling, and field coordination activities for construction projects. This is a 1-year contract with possibilities of extension. The position offers a hybrid work model (4 days in the office, 1 day work from home).Must Have:Five years of experience in construction and/or project management.Experience or knowledge in either Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical disciplines with a working knowledge of at least one additional discipline.Excellent knowledge of all related standards and codes in the applicable discipline.Construction experience and knowledge of generation, substation, transmission & distribution facilities, and related equipment.Must hold a valid Class 5 drivers license.Diploma of Technology from an institute of technology or a Degree in a construction-related field like Engineering, Forestry, Architecture, Project Management, Construction Management, Business Administration, or Quantity Surveying; or a related trades qualification (e.g., Electrician, Winder, Power Line Technician, General Trades 1, or Millwright).Responsibilities:Prepare detailed cost estimates, consider engineering specifications and contract conditions, research, analyze, and recommend best methods and procedures to minimize labor, equipment requirements, costs, or scheduling impacts.Prepare quantity takeoffs for materials and components, assess risk situations, and apply markups to ensure full overhead expense recovery.Prepare work schedules, coordinate project activities, may be involved in designing drawings and performing site surveys.Operate electrical testing equipment, prepare technical reports, maintain project progress data, and advise on work plan discrepancies or changes.Compile pay item schedules for estimates, bid submissions, and sub-contract tender documents, verify quantity calculations, and obtain technical information and costs from suppliers.
