Competition 23-66R - Family Support Worker (Union) - CochraneEmploymentOpportunity – Family Support Worker (Union position) - CochraneCompetition #: 23-66R Department : Prevention Job type : Contract-Full-time–to March 31, 2025, with the possibility of extension Closing Date:May 7, 2024 @ 4:30 PM What you willdo in the role·Provides fair, equitable,respectful, and culturally relevant service to First Nations children andfamilies, consistent with the vision, mission, and values of Kunuwanimano. ·Maintains effectiverelationships with First Nations Councils, elders, committees, and applicableagencies. ·Participates with community(ies)to explore service options and strategies to address issues affecting FirstNations children and families. ·Conduct intake andassessment procedures to ensure the community members’ needs are properly directed. ·Develop a plan of action toorganize the goals created in partnership with the client(s) and other serviceproviders. ·Refer clients to appropriateservice providers when required and advocate on their behalf should the needarise. ·Ensure all documents arecontinuously up to date. (i.e., client files, case notes, and other pertinentdocuments) ·Gather client data forstatistical purposes. ·Deliver awareness/preventionprograms that are geared to the needs of the community(ies). ·Attending work-relatedtraining sessions, workshops, and meetings as requested by the Supervisor. ·Intervenes in crisessituations where risk to children exists and initiates timely response toensure the safety of the child. What you bringto the table·Post-secondary diploma in arelated field (social service worker, child & youth worker, etc.) and 1-2years related experience social work. ·Must produce clear CriminalRecord Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening. ·The ability to speak anative language is considered a major asset. ·Demonstrate excellentplanning, organizational, administrative and communication skills. ·Demonstrate excellentinterpersonal skills to liaise with a variety of internal and externalcontacts, oral and written communication skills. ·Demonstrated proficiencywith various software packages including but not limited to word processing,database and or spreadsheet applications. ·Knowledge of Child andFamily Services Act. ·Knowledge of individual,family, child, adolescent, and group behavior. ·Must have experience incounselling, case management, file maintenance and statistical reporting. ·Must be able to work underminimal supervision. ·Must possess a valid “G”Ontario Driver’s licence, be willing to travel, able to work flexible hours,able to work independently and provide on-call services when required.
