Job Description

Under the direction of the Director, Total Rewards, the Compensation and Data Analyst will support the review and analysis of activities related to the mix of total rewards programs that support Alterna’s pay for performance culture. The incumbent is instrumental in providing the right metrics and analysis upon which HR and total rewards decisions can be made. This role also supports the integrity of employee data and implementation of related HR systems and tools. As an integral member of the HR team, the incumbent collaborates with HR colleagues to contribute to their areas of responsibility.

Major Responsibilities

Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Management

  • system optimization,
  • application support,
  • testing and implementing new functionalities,
  • implementing system project initiatives,
  • data integrity and reporting.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of HRIS modules to align to the talent management strategies.
  • Ensures the on-going maintenance of the HRIS systems by monitoring system upgrades that impact the business and end users including any communications or additional training as required.
  • Contributes to establishing and continuously improving the HR databases with internal processes.
  • Maintains the security and integrity of the system through security role maintenance and workflow configuration.
  • Support HRIS by researching and resolving HRIS problems, unexpected results or process flaws

Reporting and Data Analytics

  • Enters data and produces management reports on a quarterly and an ad hoc basis
  • Support a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools, both on a regular and ad-hoc basis.
  • Assist in development and delivery of standard reports for ongoing needs.
  • Plan and conduct end to end analysis including data gathering and validation.
  • Primary point of contact for employee queries about HRIS and administration of the email box

Compensation:

  • Contributes to the development, improvements and implementation of compensation programs, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for providing analytical support in the design, development and cost modelling of variable pay plans.
  • Assists in providing detailed analysis/models, innovative recommendations related to fixed and variable direct compensation programs.
  • Provides recommendations to the HR team on compensation practices, and policy and guideline interpretation.
  • Contributes to the annual salary planning process (Merit Award Program), and the Corporate Incentive Programs
  • Supports the completion of annual compensation and benefits surveys and helps to formulate recommended salary scale adjustments in collaboration with the Senior Total Rewards Specialist.
  • Provides support and back-up for the day-to-day administration of benefits, including MyHR queries
  • Assist in reconciliation of invoices for review and payment.
  • Assist with the analysis and review of data to support benefit programming decisions.
  • Reviewing data provided from our EFAP and leave of absence programs to highlight usage and trends that may impact human capital planning.
  • Accurate information maintained in HRIS database.
  • Timely reporting of metrics and trends.
  • Effective analysis of data leading to strong recommendations.
  • Continuity of benefits administration.

Qualifications

Education/Certification/Experience

  • Post-secondary graduate in Human Resources.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role in compensation and benefits with exposure to other HR disciplines.
  • Minimum experience of 3 with HRIS systems that include HR databases and compensation tools.
  • Experience in the financial services industry would be an asset.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills (expert on PivotTables, VLookup, etc.)
  • Experience with UKG systems is an asset
  • Relevant designations are obtained or in progress (e.g. CCP, CEBS, CHRP) would be an asset
