You will provide strategic leadership in all online and offline public relations activities to facilitate the exchange of information between SOCAN and our members, clients, music industry and public in the Québec market. Responsibilities will include developing strategic and targeted communications campaigns and executing relevant materials to promote the value of music rights, while and fostering strong and influential relationships with music industry and government stakeholders. Your expertise in public relations, government relations, brand management, and B2B communication will help drive SOCAN’s strategic pillars to serve francophone music creators and music users. Working closely with the Executive Director, Québec Affairs and the Communications & Marketing teams in Toronto and Montréal, you will play a key role in delivering SOCAN’s core messaging nationwide. Your exceptional stakeholder management and project management skills, coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and industry contacts, will ensure the successful implementation of SOCAN’s messaging strategy across various platforms. WHAT YOU’LL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Planning Develop and implement comprehensive communications and marketing strategies that align with SOCAN’s overall organizational goals and objectives with Québec-market focus ensuring music creators and publishers continue to be valued for their extraordinary talent and work. Oversee the creation of content for various channels, including social media, websites, blogs, and newsletters. This includes writing, editing, and ensuring content aligns with the organizations brand and messaging. Protect and enhance the organizations brand reputation. Ensure consistent messaging, visual identity, and tone across all communication materials and platforms. Develop, manage, and maintain annual budget for Québec communications programming. Communications, Outreach, and Public Relations: Execute strategic and targeted communications campaigns to increase member engagement with relevant materials to promotinginformation and education on multiple channels. Cultivate and maintain relationships with the media, ensuring that our messages are effectively communicated to the public. Write research-based, data-driven content to help us continue to grow SOCAN’s reputation as a leading Canadian collective management organization representing francophone and anglophone music creators and publishers. Leverage storytelling techniques to develop editorial and advertorial content and media pitches for mainstream and industry publications. Assist with the creation of key messages, news releases, event speeches, and video scripts to support external education and outreach efforts targeted at music creators and publishers. Organize promotional plans and create respective materials for a range of in person and virtual education sessions in collaboration with stakeholder departments to support recruitment and retention of music creators. Provide public relations and media relationssupport on the creation of core messaging, press release development, and campaign execution. Assist with managing and enhancing the organizations public image and brand, ensuring that our successes and accomplishments are well-represented. Attend events, meetings, and conferences, pro-actively engage with stakeholders to gather information and strengthen relations. Brand, Content, Services and Product Development: C reate compelling and tailored content, communications services and products for various purposes and channels, including social media, newsletters, press releases, and websites. Create high-quality content that highlights the organizations products, services, and value proposition for various channels, including websites, emails, presentations, case studies, and social media. Craft clear, concise messages that respond to the Québec music industry needs with special consideration for the different requirements and perspectives of different audience segments. Establish and reinforce a recognizable organizational presence in the music sector. Community Awareness & Monitoring: Develop and execute a proactive communications approach that anticipates and addresses key issues and opportunities. Analyze the effectiveness of communication campaigns using key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics. Make recommendations for improvement and optimization of future communication efforts. Stay up to date with industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to maintain a competitive communication edge. Collaborate with other stakeholders to adapt Québec messaging strategies and content for other markets. ***Other marketing and communications responsibilities and tasks as needed. The knowledge of English is required for this position as the position requires to interact on a constant and regular basis with English-speaking stakeholders located outside of Québec. WHAT YOU WILL BRING / QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE Post-secondary school degree or certification in communications, public relations, or related field. Proven experience in communication, marketing, industry relations or public relations roles. Bilingual – excellent written and spoken French and English, French as a first language mandatory. Minimum 3 years of intermediate experience working in communications. Experience working in non-profit and/or member-based organization preferred. Deep knowledge of the Québec music sector. Passionate about music and culture and the recognition of its social value Excellent communications skills, both written and spokenwith exceptional attention to detail. Proficiency in identifying and utilising different communication channels. Versatile understanding of communication strategy and technique.
