This role involves identifying overdue accounts, contacting debtors, negotiating payment arrangements, and maintaining accurate records of all collection activities. The Collection Officer must ensure that collection processes comply with relevant laws and regulations while maintaining a high level of customer service.Key Responsibilities:Debt Collection:Identify overdue accounts and initiate contact with debtors via phone, email, or letters.Negotiate payment arrangements, settlements, and payment plans with debtors.Follow up on payment commitments to ensure timely resolution of outstanding balances.Record Keeping:Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all collection activities and communications.Update customer accounts with payment status and other relevant information.Prepare regular reports on collection status, outstanding balances, and progress towards collection targets.Customer Service:Provide professional and courteous service to debtors while maintaining a firm stance on payment requirements.Address debtor inquiries and disputes in a timely and effective manner.Educate debtors on payment options and potential consequences of non-payment.Compliance:Ensure all collection activities comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding debt collection and customer interaction.Maintain confidentiality and data protection standards in all communications and record-keeping.Collaboration:Work closely with others, including Branch Managers and Project Managers, to resolve complex cases.Provide feedback and recommendations to improve collection processes and strategies.Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and regulatory changes.Skills & Qualifications:Associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related fieldPrevious experience in debt collection, customer service, or a related field is highly desirable.Strong communication and negotiation skills.Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.Proficiency in using office software and collection management systems.Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to debt collection.Knowledge in project management within the industryAbility to handle difficult conversations and remain calm under pressure.Personal Attributes:High level of integrity and professionalism.Persistence and determination in achieving collection targets.Empathy and patience when dealing with customers.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Compensation:The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $ 70,000 per year, commensurate with experience, skillsets, and qualifications.Benefits & RewardsComprehensive health benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, an employee assistance program, life insurance, AD&D and LTDEducation assistance programMonthly health & fitness allowanceGroup RRSP program & employer matchingFlexible working arrangementsEqual opportunities for career growth and advancement within the organizationFun social, team building events and professional development activitiesA culture that supports learning, collaboration, and work-life balanceAplin Martin is committed to fostering a supportive, diverse, and inclusive work environment where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work.
