Overview:
Reporting to the Director, Neurodevelopmental Services, the CSL – SLP leads the development and delivery of comprehensive and high-quality services including:
Provision of specialized FASD assessment services (primary caseload) as part of FASD interdisciplinary diagnostic team
Leadership, program development and day to day operational support for neurodevelopmental services interdisciplinary FASD and Autism Diagnostic Teams.
Coordination of research and best practice guidelines development throughout RCC’s SLP services (FASD assessment, ASD Assessment, RELATE, AAC and out-patient) and clinical supervision/team development support to SLP staff providing these services.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
Promotes good interpersonal relationships by modelling professional behavior and practice.
Supervising the daily clinical service delivery and complex operational issues in a service area (whereby the nature and scope of the work performed, the size of the staff population supervised, and the activities occurring and the variety of issues/problems arising are of a complex and variable nature) requiring higher level of decision making, problem solving and judgment with considerable latitude to exercise same.
Supervision of staff in the service area including participation in the recruitment process, orientation, mentoring and performance evaluation
Participates as part of a leadership team responsible for planning coordinating the delivery of interdisciplinary team diagnostic assessments and follow up services.
Responsible for the provision of client care including assessment, treatment and follow up as required of children on their caseload.
Coordinates education for the staff, develops and/or delivers educational workshops and resources and organizes SLP student placements.
Leads the development of best practice guidelines for the activities of the service in collaboration with managers/ staff.
Fosters and supports an environment of clinical inquiry and research.
Registration, Licenses, Registration & Experience:
Required
Clinical Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
Valid License (or eligibility to be licensed) with CASLPM.
Minimum five (5) years’ recent and relevant experience in Pediatric services.
Preferred
Graduate degree at the master’s level (non-clinical) in the field or related health or health management field.
Knowledge of the healthcare system including experience in leadership, supervision, waitlist management, quality improvement, research, and development of evidence-informed practice guidelines
Experience in a wide range of SLP practices such as FASD Assessment, ASD Assessment, AAC, RELATE and out-patient or outreach SLP assessment and treatment preferred.
Experience developing, organizing, delivering, and evaluating educational events for adult learners
Ability to work effectively independently and experience leading or working within an inter-disciplinary team.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to foster a collaborative practice environment.
