Position Overview

Under the general supervision of and in collaboration with the Manager Health Services and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Clinical Resource Nurse (CRN) is responsible for providing clinical expertise to nurses. The CRN assumes a leadership role in coordinating patient care within the health care team, ensuring quality patient care outcomes, and promoting an interprofessional patient centered approach to care based on best practice.

Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years recent acute medicine or cardiology or CSIU or emergency nursing experience required.
  • Nursing experience in a tertiary care setting experience required.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing or Registered Psychiatric Nursing (Mental Health) education program required.
  • Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Science Mental Health, or Bachelor of Science Psychiatric Nursing degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Successful completion of the Advanced Assessment Course when the opportunity to take the course is scheduled by the employer, or otherwise mutually agreed to between the nurse and employer.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Current CRNM registration required.
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows, Word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Applicants will be assessed against the following selection criteria, as applicable to the position: experience, education, experience, patient care and clinical knowledge/skills, leadership skills, communication and interpersonal skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, quality improvement, teaching skills, research knowledge, professional development and seniority.
