Your Opportunity:

The Palliative CNS working in Rural Calgary Zone is a consultative resource to Integrated Home Care, Integrated Supportive and Facility Living (ISFL) sites, private facilities, Acute Care and diverse. communities such as First Nations, Metis and Hutterite populations. The position partners with other members of Alberta Health Services (AHS) and with contracted providers to: Progressively develop and implement strategic business plans for Palliative and End of Life (EOL) care in all rural locations of care to improve palliative care service delivery, anticipate future service needs and ensure compliance with standards for palliative care. Provide advanced/expert nursing consultation for palliative and end of life (EOL) care and symptom management for clients living in rural Calgary Zone Collaborate with leadership and teams in all locations of care to build and maintain palliative and EOL care competencies for staff and leadership. Lead teams of multiple stakeholders to solve system or care challenges through quality improvement evaluation and research activities and facilitate implementation of these solutions.

Description:

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), you will provide an advanced level of nursing practice that maximizes the application of in-depth nursing theory, knowledge and skills in meeting the complex health care needs of individuals, families and communities. You will function as a nursing practice leader, consultant, expert practitioner, educator and researcher within a clinical specialty area. You will balance various roles depending upon the needs of the patient population and the healthcare team, collaborating on the provision of holistic and comprehensive care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Nursing. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

3-5 years experience in Palliative Care (across acute and community settings) 2-5 years experience in Rural Nursing Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of an interprofessional team. Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to navigate clients through the healthcare system based on client need Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with staff, physicians, patients and families, leaders, learners, internal and external partners. Demonstrated clinical leadership, especially in nursing and palliative care specialty practice. Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and initiative. CNA Hospice and Palliative Care Certification
