Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site.

ROLE

As a Clinical Lead you will provide strong, flexible and resilient, support and clinical guidance to the Critical Care Unit (ICU) staff in support of the Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare’s goals and objectives.

Collaborates with patients, families and the health care team to provide professional practice that respects the rights of patients.

Provides direction to, collaborates with and shares knowledge and expertise with staff students and medical staff.

Acts as role model and mentor to less experienced nurses and students.

Provides leadership through the formal role of Clinical Leader.

Develops innovative solutions to practice issues.

Co-ordinates care for complex clients and demonstrates leadership when collaborating with care providers.

Monitors scheduling and assignments, ensuring shift coverage is appropriate for scope of practice and workload

Provides oversight of stores order with attention to impact on budget, how stocking and supplies are managed

Delegation of duties (i.e.: room checks, crash cart checks etc.)

Assists staff as required, including break coverage and patient assignment if needed to support the environment and staffing needs

Ensures patient flow is maintained, keeping an eye on documentation of times related to triage, PIA etc. as well as advocating for appropriate admissions

Attends bed meetings or delegates staff to do so in absence

Participates in bed allocation process

Provides education of staff to new processes, new equipment etc.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S) 

Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.

Current Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Current BLS (Basic Life Support).

Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).

Current TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Certification)

Current ENC(C) (Emergency Nurse Certification)

Current ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) and/or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Certificate in Critical Care Nursing, or willingness to obtain, or equivalent in experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)

Minimum of 4500 (3 years) hours hospital experience.

Minimum 4500 (3 years) hours emergency room experience or Critical care unit .

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Location: Multi-Site, working at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville.

Department: ICU

Hours of Work: 8 hour day shifts 5 days per week . Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.

As a condition of employment , external hires are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital’s Occupational Health and Safety department.
