Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Civil Engineer with a background in municipal land development and infrastructure to join our Corner Brook team. As the successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a team and plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of civil projects.

A Day in the Life

  1. Manage a variety of projects such as infrastructure upgrades and land development projects, including design and construction of water, sewer, stormwater, earthworks, and transportation infrastructure.
  2. Provide technical guidance to a team of EITs and designers to deliver preliminary to detailed design drawings and specifications.
  3. Carry out estimates of project costs, analysis and calculations, design review, preparation of reports, proposals, and contract documentation.
  4. Build business relationships with current and potential clients.
  5. Interface directly with clients, team members, contractors, and others to clearly define project requirements and expectations.
  6. Ensure completion of work within allotted schedules and budgets to high quality standards.
  7. Create a work plan that includes a schedule, milestones, control, and risk factors.
  8. Proactively resolve performance, scope, and schedule issues as they arise.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  2. Must be registered (or eligible to register) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in the province of Newfoundland.
  3. 5+ years of relevant experience in municipal engineering and project management.
  4. Experience in materials testing (soils, concrete) and/or structural design and analysis is an asset.
  5. Strong project management, technical and analytical skills.
  6. Strong technical writing skills demonstrated through experience in the preparation of correspondence, reports and proposals.
  7. Effective verbal communicator, including presentation, facilitation and listening skills.
  8. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; able to mentor and work with junior engineers and designers.
  9. Good organization skills and strong attention to detail.

  10. Competitive salary between $85,000.00 and $110,000.00 depending on skills and experience.
