As a pivotal member of the executive team, the Chief of Staff/Executive Vice-President, Medical Affairs (COS/EVP) reports to the CEO and is accountable to the Board of Directors on matters related to quality of care provided by professional staff. In this capacity, they hold significant responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of Niagara Health’s (NH) professional staff, including credentialed physicians, midwives, and dentists. Through clear objectives and expectations, the COS/EVP ensures the performance, quality of clinical care, and adherence to the hospital's professional standards. They recognize the critical importance of role modelling accountability, respect, quality, and professionalism.

As the Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC), the COS/EVP collaborates with Physician Chiefs to foster a culture where NH professional staff can excel in patient care, while upholding NH core values. In this role, they are directly accountable to the Board of Directors for matters concerning medical quality, in accordance with the Hospital’s Professional Staff By-Laws and relevant provincial legislation. With a clear focus on the patient experience, the COS/EVP enables Physician Chiefs to drive innovation, modernization, and quality.
