Job Description:

We are looking for a highly experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO). A senior executive who is responsible for leading and managing the financial initiatives of the group of companies. Reporting to the President & CEO, the CFO works in tandem with other C-suite executives and Vice Presidents. The CFO is an integral part of the organization and is accountable for the financial successes or failures of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all accounting and finance personnel (controllers, team leaders and financial analysts).
  • Preparing the company’s financial reporting, consolidation, and MD&A.
  • Driving the company’s financial planning and analysis; monthly profit and loss forecast, key performance indicators (KPI), weekly 13-week cash flow forecast, and more.
  • Assess organizational performance against the annual budget and company’s long-term strategy.
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the President & CEO and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
  • Develop and maintain capital expenditure budget.
  • Providing monthly borrowing base reports and quarterly compliance reports to the banks.
  • Preparing and presenting quarterly business reports to the Board of Directors analyzing issues, trends, and changes in the operating model and operational delivery.
  • Manage relationships with banks, lenders, lawyers, auditors, and other vendors.
  • Assist in establishing yearly objectives and meeting agendas, and selecting and engaging outside consultants (auditors, lawyers, consultants and investment advisors).
  • Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s processes and internal controls.
  • Control and evaluate the organization’s debt and capital structure.
  • Deciding on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks.
  • Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations.
  • Ensure compliance with the law and company’s policies.

Requirements:

  • Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Proven minimum 5-years’ experience as CFO in $200M+ company.
  • In-depth knowledge of finance, accounting, internal controls, Canadian and U.S. tax rules.
  • Experience in the transportation industry
  • Exceptional ability to monitor, allocate, and control finances on a large scale.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to present financial analysis and projections to company stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving attitude and abilities.
  • Works quickly and accurately and applies sound professional judgement.
