Job Description

e4c is an Edmonton charitable organization that has been working for over 50 years to help vulnerable people here and now. Our work focuses on addressing people’s urgent needs while providing support towards lasting, positive change. e4c is presently seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team. This position provides fiscal management and financial strategic leadership to sustain and enhance our organizational capacity to carry out our mission. e4c’s CFO is accountable for the effective management of financial operations, internal controls, funding contracts, charitable status, accounting processes, audit reporting, and administration of funds. The CFO is also the executive leading our information technology architecture and process transformation.

Responsibilities

e4c is looking for a mature leader who brings at least eight years of mid-senior level experience in a finance role, working directly with executives, leadership teams, and Boards. The successful candidate is experienced in managing teams of professionals and understands how to coach and mentor a team to success. You have high social and emotional intelligence and are grounded in the belief that you can make a difference in the lives of the people that e4c serves.

You possess a high degree of professionalism while working collaboratively with individuals of diverse experience. You are excited about change and possess a positive, can-do attitude when faced with challenges. You have a demonstrated ability to present financial statements, projects, and deliverables to a wide array of audiences with varying degrees of financial acumen. You bring a solutions-focused approach to your work, providing financial analysis and projections to support strategic growth. You have proven experience in making sound decisions with confidence in the face of ambiguity.

You exercise sound and seasoned judgment when assessing financial and operational risks, being able to determine and manage the best course of action in complex situations. Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance or Economics.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant for at least 5 years.

Experience

  • 8+ years of progressive financial, accounting/audit leadership experience.
  • Proven knowledge of financial forecasting and diagnosis, corporate finance, and information analysis.
  • Well-informed in current financial subjects, accounting, tax laws, and business environments.
  • Advanced knowledge in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office, and financial software applications.
  • Knowledge of applicable not-for-profit legislation: municipally, provincially, and federally
