Job SummaryThis position is available for Type B faculty (teaching and academic support) to apply and would receive a three-course release for this position for a teaching faculty member.Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Teaching and Learning, the Changemaker Curriculum Developer will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating programs, services, and resources to support the professional development of faculty members, staff, and at times, students, in Changemaker education. The position involves developing curriculum resources, assessment options, learning outcomes, and instructional and research-related pedagogies that align with Ashoka U Changemaker Campus principles. The focus of this position is to support faculty and staff in embedding Changemaker education and social innovation into their teaching and learning practices. In addition, an integral part of the work will be to provide resources to faculty and staff to promote the development of students as changemakers. The Changemaker Curriculum Developer will support faculty in gaining knowledge of Changemaker education and promote the development of an institutional culture of Changemaking through workshops, curriculum resources, mentorship, and a Community of Practice in Changemaking. The incumbent will work as a member of a team of learning specialists, designers, and facilitators to enhance the professional learning opportunities being offered by the Teaching and Learning Centre.Responsibilities include the development, delivery, and evaluation of professional development programming for Changemaker education, including curriculum, resources, and pedagogies. The Changemaker Curriculum Developer applies Universal Designs for Learning (UDL) principles within the framework of Changemaker education when facilitating sessions for faculty and staff. The incumbent will assist the department in promoting Changemaker education by exploring connections between Changemaking and other programmatic foci within the TLC.• Develops short and long-term teaching- and learning-related initiatives to promote and embed Changemaker education in academic programming through the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) and UFV.• Develops and delivers faculty development (programming, workshops, mentoring, and individual and group consultations) in enhancing Changemaker education, social entrepreneurship, changemaking, and social innovation.• Embeds Changemaker education into pedagogies, curriculum, and assessment practices.• Supports the implementation of UFV 2024 Institutional Learning Outcomes as they connect with Changemaker education.• Seeks out and provides access to opportunities related to Changemaker education.• Assists unit curriculum representatives in the writing of program and course proposals that reflect the goals and frameworks of Changemaker education. • Develops programming, workshops, and delivers through multimodal delivery, including online and hybrid formats.• Participates in and promotes a broader dialogue regarding the meaning of Changemaker education within UFV through a Community of Practice.• Contributes to growing understandings of social innovation, social entrepreneurship, changemaking, visionary leadership, systems thinking, and institutional transformation as core features of Changemaker education.• Prepares reports, plans, and markets specialized events for the TLC.• Engages in reciprocal learning opportunities with faculty and departments across all campuses of UFV. • Encourages, develops, and partners with faculty members in the scholarship of teaching and learning around Changemaker education.Qualifications• PhD or Master’s degree; Type B Faculty as per the Collective Agreement.• Completion of the Royal Roads University’s Leading Social Impact in Post-Secondary Microcredential or equivalent Ashoka U credential in Changemaker education.• Demonstrate depth of knowledge of the principles, frameworks, and foundations of the Ashoka U Changemaker vision as it is contextualized within UFV.• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and learning practices, with evidence of courses taught with elements of Changemaker education embedded within them.• Experience in developing curriculum, teaching and assessing in a variety of course structures and modalities, and developing education materials and programming.• Experience with curriculum development, course design/redesign using principles of quality assurance, institutional and program learning outcomes, and UDL.• A strong understanding of student learning, including EDI and accessibility needs.• A commitment to Indigenization and decolonization, and the ability to identify intersections between Changemaker education and Indigenization efforts at UFV. • Ability to demonstrate how to integrate Changemaker approaches into teaching and learning practices and strategies.• Demonstrated capacity for self-reflection and professional growth.• Capacity to engage members of diverse communities and skilled in a variety of consultation techniques, protocols, and strategies with the proven ability to listen to the needs of diverse faculty, staff, student, and community members.• Experience with online and blended formats and other educational technologies• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.• Superior ability to exercise judgment, maintain a high degree of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality• General knowledge of the University’s mission, purpose and goals, and the role this position plays in achieving those goals• Some work on non-regular days (i.e., weekend or evening workshops) at UFV BC campusesAbout UFVThe University of the Fraser Valley is located on the traditional territory of the Halqeméylem-speaking peoples.
