Join the best team in Halifax and be a part of the legend!OVERVIEW:The Catering & Events Manager is responsible for the operation of all Catering & Events that occur at the Lord Nelson Hotel & Suites. The position involves managing the day of event as well as the pre event planning/preparation, post event billing and guest feedback. In this role you will work closely with clients to ensure their needs are exceeded and act as the on-site contact for all group conveners, ensuring their needs and requirements are met from the point of planning, to execution and follow up, and all points in between.RESPONSIBILITIESBuild creative menus and design floor plans for eventsHandle requests from clients that are necessary to facilitate their function successfully, confirming electrical, internet, telecommunications, audio-visual and exhibition requirements based on discussions with clientsPrepare sales contracts, event orders and conference resumesWork with Sales to ensure proper coordination and distribution of applicable information concerning convention clientsConduct daily walk-throughs of the function areas to meet/ greet clients and ensure their needs are being metGenerate business via direct face-to face sales calls, telephone, and written correspondence, including walk in inquires and site inspectionsAct as a liaison between client and internal hotel personnel to ensure maximum guest satisfactionManage monthly financial statements, billing, forecasts and budgetsBe available as requested for special duties dictated by clients’ needs or those of the hotelQUALIFICATIONSMinimum 5 years Catering/ Conference Services or Sales experiencePrevious leadership experience within a similar role requiredUniversity/College degree in a related discipline preferredExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalStrong interpersonal and problem solving abilitiesMust work well under pressure, and be flexible with hours of work.
