Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

The Category Manager, Indirect Procurement will support the Sr. Manger Indirect Procurement in the execution of the indirect procurement process & category strategy development for the strategic sourcing of goods and services for Arc’teryx. This role will work with key leaders and stakeholders within Arc’teryx and Amer Sports to proactively enable budget owners to maximize the value they receive from vendors to meet their objectives and generate sustainable improvements and savings through identifying and implementing process improvements and best practices.

This role is primarily based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Meet Your Future Team:

Indirect Procurement is a small but mighty team; you will be entering at a pivotal time as we build out the foundation and guide the business through procurement transformation. You will be responsible for assigned categories along with being agile to take on new initiatives as they arise. The function sits within the broader Arc’teryx Finance organization.


If you were the Category Manager, Indirect Procurement now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:
  • Leading category and sourcing strategy implementation of the categories in scope for Arc'teryx. The focus and support areas will be on IT, Ecommerce and Guest Services
  • Monitoring and analyzing the relevant supplier market place to identify further improvement opportunities and create value for the business
  • Working in close collaboration with senior leaders and stakeholders from respective functions, and countries on related procurement projects
  • Participating in conversations with business unit leadership to highlight potential savings opportunities, understand the requirements of the business, and support decision-making
  • Managing supplier performance and relationships to ensure the organization’s expectations are met
  • Proactively managing relationships with major external partners for the categories in scope
  • Interacting with relevant procurement roles in different countries to share knowledge, gather requirements, and identify category specific improvement opportunities
  • Leading complex RFx processes from creation; cost analysis; negotiation; contract execution
  • Contributing to procurement excellence & development projects that allows you to be an active contributor to the development of our Indirect Procurement organization
  • Providing guidance to internal Stakeholders on sourcing and procurement capabilities and processes
  • Champion the Global procurement policy, tools, systems, and procedures
  • Promoting process improvement and implementation of new best practices
  • Executing other procurement-related special projects as needed
Are you our next Category Manager, Indirect Procurement?
  • You have 5+ years professional experience in the procurement field or comparable experience, ideally in a global company with a comparable size and complexity as Arc’teryx
  • You have a minimum of 3+ years of experience leading as a Strategic Sourcing Manager or Category Manager in Procurement
  • You have strong ability to communicate and build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • You have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, business process management, finance, STEM, or marketing, or equivalent experience.
  • You have knowledge and experience in: Category management framework, Developing and implementing category strategies, leading complex RFx projects, leading negotiations; good track record of delivering sustainable improvements and savings, contracting / contract management.
  • You potentially also have: experience in SAP Ariba P2P or similar procurement tools, MS products, Contract Management tools, eSourcing tools, SCMP, ISM or other professional procurement designation, experience in a vertical retail organization
  • You are comfortable working in a matrix organization.
  • You have ability to travel including international travel as required
  • It’s a plus if you have experience working effectively in a greenfield environment

$104,000 - $130,000 a year
A reasonable estimate of the pay range is $104,000 - $130,000 CAD at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and does not include our competitive bonus program and benefits that we offer.
