TheOpportunity

We arelooking a suitably experienced, enthusiastic and communityfocused library officer to join our Community and Schoollibrary on a Casual basis. The position will be responsible forassisting with the delivery of public library services that meetthe needs of the patrons in a joint use library, with particularemphasis on providing high quality customer service to thosepatrons. This role is responsible for:

  • Ensuringeffective delivery of community library programs and functionswith some late afternoon and weekend work required;
  • Undertaking Libraryadministrative and customer service related tasks (includingcashiering);
  • Maintaining, storing andcaring for the library collection with mindful adherence tocataloguing and shelving procedures;
  • Efficiently operatingthe Library Management System to manage library memberships,create reports and record information;
  • Assisting patrons withInter-Library loan requests and forwarding requests on to theSenior Library Officer for actioning;
  • Creatinglibrary displays and promoting new resources;
  • Providing assistance asrequired to ensure the success of library programs such asStory Time, Rhyme Time, other community programs, KimberleyWriters Festival and visiting authors;
  • Supportthe Manager and work with other library staff to ensureservices are delivered in conjunction with State Library of WApolicy and procedures.

A WA Workingwith Children Check are essential for this role, a formallibrary qualification and or formal qulificationsin community development, education or support work are highlydesitable.

We areoffering an hourly rate inclusive of allowances and Superannuationof up to $44 (dependent on skills and experience)per hours.
