Our growing programs and services operate throughout BC online, from our Learning Centres in East Vancouver and North Vancouver, at in-school locations, and in our mobile classroom.

Purpose of Position 

Case Managers monitor the implementation of individualized learning programs and support Instructors with best practices for specific learning profiles. They support instructors by monitoring student learning progress and outcomes, support families by ensuring they understand our approach and progress monitoring, and regularly meet with the education team to discuss adjustments to lesson planning, objectives or strategies.  

Working closely with the Family and Student Services Department, the Student Services Support portion of this role is a key relationship connector between families and LDS. They are a first point of contact for families working with LDS, who play a facilitator role in the relationship building between families and LDS during the intake or re-intake process for our one-to-one programs. 

Please note the split of hours between Case Management role and Student Services Support role varies seasonally as the needs of our student population shift.  

Principal Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support instructors in administering learning assessments to evaluate student needs and strengths. 

  • Evaluate RISE Learning Plans developed by instructors. Progress monitor over the academic year and recommend adjustments as they are needed. 

  • Provide onboarding support and mentoring to new instructors. 

  • Participate in observing instructor’s sessions and may contribute to performance reviews.

  • Attend and contribute to bi-weekly case management meetings with the Case Management team.

  • Attend educational/instructor in-services and workshops throughout the year.

  • Participate in curriculum/program development or feedback meetings as requested.

  • Meet with new families and returning families to determine student needs, recommend placement, and support families with external funding applications.  

  • Participate in placement meetings to place students with an instructor appropriate for their learning needs.

  • Keep detailed records of intake meetings, student needs and other information collected and processed.

  • Ability to mentor and support new instructors

  • Exceptionally organized using digital shared platforms (databases, excel sheets, etc)

  • Compassionate and caring, with an ability to set professional and privacy boundaries in sometimes-challenging conversations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience including experience managing instructors/teachers 

  • Bachelors degree in education or related field with educational experience

  • Experience working with children with diagnosed or suspected learning differences

  • Ability to use assessment strategies and instruments to identify gaps in learning

  • Experience teaching in the following areas: reading, writing and/or mathematics

  • An understanding of the BC curriculum
  • Criminal record check with the vulnerable sector
  • Eligibility to work in Canada

Start date: no later than September 3, 2024 but earlier start or gradual start is possible  

Reports to: Senior Manager, Education and works closely with Family and Student Services Department
 

Hours of work: This position is full-time (37.5 paid hours/week) with somewhat flexible hours, although the position requires that the candidate be available during instructional hours. Specific schedule can be discussed but two examples of work hours are: Mon-Fri 11am – 7pm OR Tues-Thurs 11-7/Fri-Sat 9-5.  
 

Remuneration: $54,000 - $58,000 FTE. Paid vacation and closure between Dec 25 and Jan 1 that does not count toward your vacation. Extended health and dental benefits plan. In-house professional development opportunities.  


Location: This position works out of our North Vancouver Learning Centre on the 3rd floor of Lynn Valley Village in North Vancouver. This job will occasionally require travel to our East Vancouver location at 3292 E. Broadway as directed by the Senior Manager of Education or their designate.
