The Business Unit Director develops and implements cross-functional strategic and tactical plans to achieve business goals including sales, reimbursement and profitability targets for the Rare Diseases Business Unit. The role is part of the Commercial Leadership Team and will report to the VP, GM of Pendopharm.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute of the launch plan, including driving and ensuring market access, driving customer engagement, building external awareness and advocacy
  • Provide strategic & operational direction and leadership to the Sales and Marketing team
  • Leadership and accountability for delivering commercial P&L goals and financial KPIs for the product(s)
  • Build, engage and maintain excellent relationships with relevant stakeholders including KOLs, professional societies and organizations and patient advocacy groups
  • Recruit an experienced, hands-on, high-quality sales and marketing team for key positions in accordance with the agreed launch plan
  • Foster development of innovative, customer- and patient-centric solutions across the entire organization leveraging digital technology
  • Ensure plans are developed, implemented, and monitored in conjunction with relevant cross functional teams and aligned with the Global brand strategy.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Life Sciences or Business Administration); M.Sc. Degree is an asset.
  • Must have at least 10 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience and track record of success in building and leading a commercial team (both sales and marketing) and P&L responsibility
  • Demonstrated successful experience with product launches
  • Thorough understanding of commercial aspects of the business including brand management, sales planning and execution, pricing and reimbursement, patient advocacy
  • Solid track record of working with customers, patient organizations and stakeholders at all levels internally and externally, to influence, define and implement market access strategies and plans
  • Demonstrated ability to distill down and synthesize complex information from various resources into insights and actions.
  • Therapeutic area experience: Endocrinology is an asset
  • Experience in Rare Diseases (preferred) or demonstrated experience across multiple therapeutic areas
  • Strong team player, proactive in nature, with a “can-do”’, self-starter attitude
  • Entrepreneurial mindset who can handle ambiguity & create clarity
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with cross-functional responsibilities
  • Ability to lead directly and by influence
  • Strategic, analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Excellent communications skill set: interpersonal, networking, verbal, written and presentation in both English and French
  • Thorough understanding of the Health Canada, IMC Code, and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Travel up to 20% of the time.
