**Please note that there are 2 available positions: one located in and responsible for Eastern Canada (Ontario to the East Coast), and one located in and responsible for Western Canada (Manitoba to the West Coast).** Do you have a passion for Thrift? Under the direction of the National Director of Business Development and Sustainability, the Regional Business Development Specialist is responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance donor retention and stewardship, overseeing communication, building strong relationships with donors, and providing support for internal and external partners with a strong emphasis on efficiency, organization, operational protocols, and superior customer service in their designated region. ACCOUNTABILITIES: Execute strategies to enhance donor retention and stewardship. Monitor donor leads and referrals ensuring all potential partners are communicated with and offered best customer service. Ensure databases are maintained with current information. Communication with donors and partners handled professional and in a timely manner by telephone, email, video, and in person. Prepare and process documentation for donors; including charitable tax receipts, acknowledgment of donation receipts, and formal thank you letters. Work in conjunction with director engaging provincial leads and industry associations to support advocacy initiatives to increase donations within your region. Highlight department areas of improvement and share recommendations for better efficiency, best practices, and performance outcomes. WORKING CONDITIONS: Working environment is remote work and in office within designated region. In Eastern Region within Greater Toronto Area, in Western region with area of Vancouver, Calgary or Edmonton to accommodate occasional in person meetings and events. Business hours will be standard with willingness to work flexible hours to meet business requirements and community involvement as needed. Occasional travel is associated with this position (less than 10%). EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of a formal college/University program of three academic years in Business Administration, Fund Development, Supply Chain Management, Donor Relations, or other related fields Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Fund Development, Supply Chain Management will be considered a strong asset. Alternate combination of education and experience may be considered. French Bi-Lingual considered a strong asset. A minimum of 5 years of related experience. Strong customer service skills. Experience in waste diversion and/or non-profit setting an asset. Highly proficient in MS Office applications. Experience working with a donor database management system (specifically Raisers Edge) is an asset. Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions. Highly developed relationship management skills. Proven ability to negotiate and to be diplomatic and discreet. Proven research and problem-solving abilities. Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
