Your role:

The Business Analyst, Finance works within our Finance & Accounting team as well as cross-functionally with other key stakeholders to consult, analyze, and problem solve. This role plays an integral part in understanding the various business problems affecting Global Relay, particularly those that impact our revenues and billing. The Business Analyst, Finance is responsible for gaining a strong understanding of the purpose of the analysis, prioritizing and scoping the project work and developing the approach in which you will identify, gather and organize data needed from various sources. You will use the data to build financial analyses and models which can be easily adapted and maintained, including constructing models needed for recurring purposes that can be transitioned to the respective team. You will compile, present, and communicate findings, conclusions and proposed next steps to stakeholders in various formats such as slide decks, diagrams, work flows, emails, and memos and aid in the preparation of internal and external facing documentation that may be required. A successful Business Analyst, Finance has a solution-focused mindset, is thirsty for knowledge, and is energized to make a difference by providing timely, value-added analyses and proposed course of actions to a diverse group of stakeholders, including senior management and executive leadership.   • Develop and maintain data models that support essential billing functions such as customer usage and overage computations
  • Challenge existing data models to identify and explore potential revenue leakage or net new revenue opportunities
  • Own monthly and ad hoc reporting of key SaaS metrics such as changes in monthly recurring revenues, retention, and other KPIs
  • Provide accurate and comprehensive analyses in support of problems and decision making of the senior Finance & Accounting leadership team including the Chief Financial Officer, VP Finance and billing senior management
  • Support cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. Sales, Revenue Operations, Customer Success, Provisioning) with detailed analyses to customer contract and billing related matters while contemporaneously working as an advocate for the Finance and Accounting team in cross-functional problem solving
  • Devise meaningful, comprehensive, and timely solutions revenue, billing and other customer matters on an ad hoc basis
  • Assist project teams (e.g. Finance and Accounting, Information Systems, Sales, etc.) focused on Salesforce optimization initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for and assist with automation and process improvements to sales and billing processes in both our existing and next-generation billing systems
  • Act as a data and data manipulation expert assisting the Finance & Accounting team with ad hoc analyses

About you:

  • Post-secondary education; undergraduate degree in Business preferred
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a role of similar responsibilities
  • Advanced understanding of MS Excel is a must, familiarity with other data analytics tools preferred (e.g. Tableau, NetSuite Analytics Warehouse, Knime)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to project manage including exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and time-manage both individually and in a team-based environment
  • Experience in collating, structuring, analyzing and reporting on large data sets
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce) and cloud-based accounting applications (NetSuite) including experience creating reports and performing data analysis thereon
  • Detail-orientated and ability to thrive in fast moving, fast growth entrepreneurial environment, have a 'solution based' mind set, and be proactive in driving improvements to processes and systems
  • Experience documenting work flows and processes and presenting findings to various levels of management
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong work ethic and integrity, technology or finance background preferred
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and ability to write clear, concise and formal business communications and present to senior stakeholders
  • Experience in a Software as a Service business is an asset
  • Experience with VBA coding is an asset

Compensation:
Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in accordance with the pay transparency laws of the province of British Columbia. In addition to the annual base salary (range listed below), compensation for this role also includes a corporate bonus, extended health benefits, and RRSP Matching, and (for applicable Sales roles) an enticing commission structure.

British Columbia - Base Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 CAD
