Local 543LOCATION: VariousJOB CODE: 543570POSITION STATUS: Temporary Full-TimeGRADE/CLASS: 0.17# OF POSITIONS: 3RATE OF PAY: $34.91 – $41.09 per hourSHIFT WORK REQUIRED: NoHOURS OF WORK: 37.5DUTIES:Reporting to the Manager of Inspections/Deputy Chief Building OfficialResponsible for the enforcement of the City’s Bylaws as assigned under the Chief Building OfficialInvestigate complaints and perform inspections and investigations of propertiesPrepare and input electronic reports for each inspection performedIssue orders to property owners and other affected partiesSwear information, serve summonses, prepare court briefs and attend court proceedingsProvide information to the public, property owners, tenants, and other City departmentsMaintain excellent interpersonal relations with the public and fellow staffPerform Occupational Health & Safety dutiesPerform other related duties as requiredQUALIFICATIONS:Must have:Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus (3) years of post-secondary educationOver three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in building construction or building maintenanceCurrent, valid Class G Driver’s LicenceWorking knowledge of structures, electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systemsExperience in a computerized office environmentEffective oral and written communication skillsKnowledge of relevant by-laws and actsExperience with the AMANDA document management system (considered an asset)Work-related experience in Municipal Law Enforcement (considered an asset)Membership and Certification with the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers (considered an asset)Successful completion of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing “Legal/Process” examination (considered an asset)The physical demands analysis associated with this position indicates a light level of work.NOTE: Only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
