Job Description

Momentum Equine is seeking a qualified surgeon to join our team in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Board-certified or surgery-trained veterinarians are invited to apply. Join our team of two board certified and board eligible surgeons (DACVS) and excellent support staff at our brand new (2022) referral facility. We see a diverse variety of equine athletes ranging from barrel racers, cutters and cow horses to dressage and jumpers along with trail riding and back yard horses.

Our facility includes two large exam rooms, a barn for hospitalization, surgical suite with two recovery rooms, and a brand new (2023) lameness arena. Our available equipment includes digital radiography, 1 and 3 meter endoscopes, ultrasounds, arthroscopy and laparoscopy tower and instrumentation. Power float dental equipment, shockwave therapy, IRAP and PRP processing systems, in house laboratory for bloodwork.

The available position is for a full time equine clinician/surgeon to perform elective and emergency surgical procedures as well as routine sports medicine and lameness cases. The ideal candidate would be required to split on-call duties equally between all veterinarians. A flexible work week schedule is possible. A technician will be provided to assist appointments. We offer a benefits package that includes a base salary with production bonus structure, after hours compensation, signing bonus, health and dental benefits, annual CE and clothing stipend. Licensing dues, professional liability insurance and a clinic vehicle is provided for all farm calls.

Sherwood Park is located outside of Edmonton, Alberta, a 3-4 hour drive from the mountains of Banff and Jasper National Parks. In Canada, Edmonton is one of the most affordable cities to live in, with an average monthly rent of $1284 per month. There are plenty of outdoor activities in the area including hiking, camping, hunting, cross country skiing etc. The city of Edmonton is full of festivals in the summer, the Edmonton Oilers NHL games in the winter and there are abundant equine facilities and activities all year round!

Applicants must be in good standing with DVM or VMD degree from accredited university and eligible for licensure in the province of Alberta.
