Job Description

Kayla’s Children Centre (KCC) is a school, therapy clinic, and recreational centre for children with disabilities, behavioural challenges, and complex medical needs. The centre supports children ages 6 weeks to 21 years who have a wide range of disabilities and provides a variety of specialized programs that enable them to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. KCC also offers personalized supports and respite for families.

KCC’s programs include a licensed day care and specialized school; on-site therapy centre; after-school and weekend respite; adapted sports; life skills programs for teens; a state-of-the-art hydrotherapy centre; and day and overnight camps.

Role: Board Certified Behaviour Analyst

The KCC Therapy Clinic is a dynamic and cutting-edge clinic that services both the school students and the community at large. We are looking for someone to join our growing ABA department. As a Senior ABA therapist, you would have the opportunity to work within an interdisciplinary team of teachers, BCBA's and therapists in providing a unique educational and therapeutic intervention.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Consulting to classroom program

• Supporting and training teachers and staff on ABA principles and behaviour management

• Run small groups in classrooms

• Conducting assessments (eg: ABLLS, VBMAPP)

• Conducting functional assessments and writing relevant treatment protocol

• Ongoing supervision, training, and evaluation of instructor therapists

• Meeting and communicating with parents

• Scheduling instructor therapists

• Meeting with and communicating with the Clinical Supervisor

• Overseeing programming of clients: analysis of data, making data driven program changes, writing and updating individualized plans

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and implement relevant therapy goals and strategies

• Responsible for curriculum, academic, and behavioural goals

• Responsible for creating, updating, and monitoring students’ IEP’s

• Attend training sessions, workshops, online courses, etc.

• Demonstrate therapy sessions to professionals and families as required

• Uphold centre’s policies and procedures (including ethical guidelines)

Skills & Qualifications:

• Three to five years of direct clinical experience in behaviour analysis or intensive behavioural intervention

• Strong knowledge and experience in: Natural Environment Teaching, Discrete Trial Teaching, Precision Teaching

• SBT experience and training an asset

• BCBA certification or pursuing BCBA certification is an asset

• Ability to work independently and take initiative while still being part of the team

• Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality

• Positive attitude, organized, and passion for learning
