Passionate about the environment? Our client is a Canadian environmental organization in search of a Bilingual Payroll Manager to join them on a long term 12-month contract. The role can be on site or hybrid in the office located in Toronto.Reporting to the Chief People Officer and partnering close with the CFO, HR and Finance teams, the Bilingual Payroll Manager will be responsible for a broad range of activities in support processing payroll and benefits for all employees across Canada and have 1 Payroll Coordinator direct report.Additional responsibilities and duties of the Bilingual Payroll Manager is as follows:Responsible for the preparation of semi-monthly payroll for employees in provinces across CanadaProvides ongoing leadership, coaching and development to the Payroll CoordinatorEnsure that payroll is in accordance with all relevant employment and labour legislationProcess employee changes i.e. new hires, leaves, transfers, salary adjustments, terminations, time away from work and other changes in accordance with legislative requirements and organizational policiesEnsures Records of Employment and other statutory reports are prepared accurately, in accordance with legislation and in a timely mannerPrepares monthly payments and reconciliations of employee deductions for group benefits and RRSP plansResolves complex or non -routine payroll issues Ensure timely preparation and remittance of statutory payment ie Income Tax, EI, CPP, WCB and EHT and group benefit paymentsT4 and relevant preparation and reconciliation of related summaries. Prepares and files various year end returns, reports and forms as required by provincial and federal governmentsAssist with year end financial audits as requiredProvides payroll reporting and analysis to the CFO and other stakeholders as requiredActs as an internal resource to employees and managers regarding payroll matters and respond in a timely mannerPrepare semi-monthly GL report to process accrualsEnsure payroll and benefits documentation is current and updatedOther duties as assignedRequirementsUniversity Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources or equivalentPayroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) a strong asset5+ years performing full cycle payroll processing for a national, large and complex organization2+ years experience working on ADP WorkForce Now or similar software2+ years experience in group benefits administrationAdvanced MS Excel Skills (with a focus on Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPS and advanced formulas i.e. IF Formulas)Strong working knowledge of relevant HR and Payroll legislation across CanadaAble to deal with people sensitively, confidentially, diplomatically and professionally at all timesStrong people and relationship building skillsEffective time management, problem solving and critical thinking skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyExcellent communication skills both verbal and writtenBilingual – French/English (oral and written) strongly preferredKnowledge in Not For Profit sector is an assetIf you are already registered with The Mason Group, please contact your Recruiting Consultant directly with reference to job #18807.
