Job Description

Position Title: Beauty Buyer Location: [Toronto / Remote] Reports to: Director of Merchandising

We're looking for a strategic, detail-oriented, and brand-savvy Buyer to manage and grow our existing brand portfolio, launch new brands, and oversee product management, cross-functional projects, and promotional planning. In this role, you'll be the first point of contact for all brand-related inquiries and play a key role in bringing new and exciting clean beauty products to our customers.

Reporting to the Director of Merchandising. You'll work closely with various internal teams including Marketing, Retail, Planning, Accounting, and Fulfillment to ensure a cohesive and successful category strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Brand Management

Manage and grow existing brands:

Oversee all categories with regular market meetings (Monthly, Bi-monthly, Quarterly, Biannually) to review sales, IQ, NPD, marketing opportunities, and retail education.

Conduct in-depth market meetings twice a year for NPD and marketing review.

Monitor Brands Performance:

Track activities through social media, brand websites to research new strategies, check exclusives, and pricing; conduct competitor analysis.

Brand and Product Onboarding

Scout,and assess emerging brands and trends for alignment with our clean beauty standards and customer values.

Lead new brand onboarding and product launches, ensuring a smooth rollout from initial contact through to post-launch review.

Represent TDM and attend trade shows and press events (ADIT Live, ADIT online, Foundermade, Cosmoprof, Beauty Undercover), both in person and virtual trade shows.

Product Management

Launch new products from existing brands:

Manage the full product lifecycle for new product development (NPD) and existing SKUs.

Monitor data accuracy, ingredients, and claims using platforms like The Good Face Project and conduct sustainability assessments.

Maintain current and accurate pricing and product data.

Cross-Functional Projects

Digital Co-op Marketing:

Strategize and co-develop digital co-op marketing plans, present to brands and help guide strategy execution.

Internal Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Participate in weekly, biweekly, and monthly meetings with Marketing, Retail, Planning, Accounting, and Fulfillment to ensure merchandising alignment and operational excellence.

Promotional Planning + Execution

Curate, plan, negotiate, and execute The Detox Box, The Bundle, and BOGB promotions and initiatives.

Secure The Detox Market (TDM) sitewide GWPs, brand-specific GWPs, and sample programming.

What You Bring

5+ years of experience in category management or buying, preferably within the beauty or retail industry.

Proven track record of managing and growing diverse brand portfolios.

Strong negotiation and analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build strong relationships with brands and internal teams.

Passion and knowledge for clean beauty, wellness, and emerging trends.

Experienced in product sales, account management, and beauty.
