Toromont Material Handling is looking for a Battery Maintenance Technician to join our team! A Battery Maintenance Technician performs scheduled maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs on industrial batteries and chargers in a field environment.As a Battery Maintenance Technician, YOU will experience:Working within one of the safest organizations in the industry where your safety and well-being are our most important priorityWorking for the best in class equipment dealer and with premium brands to exceed our customer needsOpportunities to continuously Learn, Grow and Develop with our TMH team for your successCompetitive total rewards including: wages, benefits, and premiums (as eligible)In a typical day, YOU will:Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviors at all times, in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiativesRemove and replace battery cells when neededFill cells with acid and determine specific gravityPerform services and repairs on various types of industrial batteries and chargersPerform watering, cleaning and other preventative maintenance tasks required on industrial batteries and chargersRespond to service calls for battery and charger diagnosis and repairUtilize electrical and mechanical testing and measuring equipmentIdentify & recommend additional repairs/services required on customer equipmentWork with fellow technicians to coordinate necessary repairsRecord battery values and update the work flow documents in useMust-haves for this role:College Diploma in Electrical/mechanical/electronic or related fieldService experience relating to batteries and chargers is an assetGood mechanical and electrical aptitudes, knowledge of electrical/electronic systemsAbility to read and understand electrical schematicsCustomer focused with excellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to complete services within established time guidelines in a busy, fast-paced environment where priorities are constantly changingSelf-directed team player with strong initiative, business acumen and integrityFocused, energetic and organized with superior attention to detail and a sense of urgencyAdaptable to on-call working schedules when requiredAble and willing to operate various material handling equipmentA valid Driver’s License (class 5) and available to commute in various locations in Toromont Material Handling Dealer territoryAbout Toromont Material HandlingToromont Material Handling, a wholly owned subsidiary of Toromont Industries Ltd., sells, rents and provides after-sales service for the full range of Caterpillar, Mitsubishi, and Jungheinrich forklifts.
