Who we are looking for The AVP, Capital, and Recovery Planning will assume an important role in the State Street Canada Finance team primarily through their lead role in supporting SSTCC’s Capital Adequacy and Regulatory Reporting requirements, inclusive of the implementation and governance of the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (“ICAAP”) for State Street Trust Company Canada (“SSTCC”) and Recovery and Resolution Planning (“RRP”) requirements across Canada. This role reports into the VP, Controller who oversees all regulatory-related processes, reporting, and policies. You will work closely with department heads across Canada, including but not limited to Finance, Enterprise Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Business, Operation, IT, HR, Corporate Audit, and Global Capital Management, and therefore must be comfortable with presenting to and challenging senior management across the organization, whilst acting as a decision maker at key infliction points. One main task of the role is to implement the ongoing ICAAP and RRP requirements through series of workshops and working groups with senior management and through Board challenge sessions. Therefore, you must be a self-starter with the ability to carry out a large-scale program end-to-end, ensuring that key milestones are met. You will be responsible for providing monthly capital and liquidity analysis, and will provide support to the VP, Controller Finance, and CFO who oversee Capital Adequacy when assessing the capital impact on new business and product initiatives, as well as performing stress testing on various scenarios to evaluate and assess the financial impacts on SSTCC’s capital and liquidity adequacy. Further, this role will support the VP, Controller Finance, and CFO on broader projects within finance and assist in effectively managing key deliverables. Successful candidates must be self-motivated and results-oriented. A solid understanding of the subject matter for the open position is required. Candidates must be capable of working with a wide variety of departments and senior management across the organization and be able to multitask while adhering to strict reporting deadlines. You should have a regulatory background, typically acquired through related experience in the financial services industry. The position requires excellent analytical skills, coupled with strong communication, written, and time management skills. As a key member of the Finance team, you will be comfortable interfacing and presenting to senior and executive management both within finance, and the line of business, communicating regulatory reporting matters to non-technical leaders in a clear and compelling manner. The position is a key hire as State Street Canada Finance continues to strengthen its capital adequacy and other regulatory reporting and assessment capabilities. What you will be responsible for As Capital and recovery planning, AVP you will: Support in the coordination, production, enhancement, governance, and validation of the ICAAP and RRP submissions working with SSTCC senior management and Global Capital Management and Recovery and Resolution global teams. Support the design and execution of regulatory workshops. Development, analysis, and approval process for capital and liquidity-related policies and procedures working with ERM and Corporate Compliance to ensure all regulatory requirements oversight are met Support in the coordination and preparation of the SSTCC Capital Plan and Budget. Compile Basel-related governance documentation, including Pillar 3 Disclosure Statements, and Basel-related policies, standards, guidance, and other Basel III disclosures. Prepare the periodic regulatory, Basel, and RRP update deck to the Board with relevant and up-to-date information. Liaise with State Street Boston and other global locations on regulatory initiatives. Assist senior management in capital adequacy assessments, capital dividend, and capital planning. Work closely with senior management and the Board to incorporate new processes into the business. Participate in the design and execution of training, covering new regulatory requirements for State Street Finance Canada colleagues, senior management, and the Board. Assist in ad-hoc reporting and special projects as required. Assist State Street Canada Finance team in building a culture of continuous improvement. Act as the first point of contact for all State Street Canada Finance projects, identifying the correct stakeholders required, and planning for the completion of the project. Stay abreast of internal and external factors that may impact State Street Canada Finance. Oversight and administration. Develop effective working relationships and communications with business partners in a global model and ensure that they are supported. Establish and monitor systems of control, delegated authority, and escalation procedures so that the business complies with internal policies and external regulations and can be managed effectively. Support in establishing and monitoring an effective delegation framework to ensure that tasks are performed by team members with appropriate capacity and authority level (based on knowledge, skills and competence). Establish and nurture a culture of ‘Risk Excellence’ within the team, encourage an environment of openness that welcomes effective challenge and supports open discussion. Ensure that you make reasonable decisions by exercising reasonable care when considering information available to you. This includes taking proactive action to ensure that the information you have is suitable and adequate. Education & Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of experience in financial services. Accounting designation (CPA) desirable. Risk management and regulatory experience is desirable. Strong knowledge of Basel III capital and liquidity-related requirements and familiarity with ICAAP and Recovery Plan requirements. Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to interact with executive management. Exhibits an exceptional standard of quality which includes attention to detail, organization, thoughtful analysis and problem-solving, and accountability for excellent results. Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity, quickly grasp relevant new concepts in a fast-paced environment and change. Critical Thinking: leverage analytics, benchmarking, and insights to generate meaningful financial strategies and solutions. Candidate needs to be a strong team player, self-starter who approaches work enthusiastically, demonstrates initiative, and has the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
