Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the work for Top Aces (TA) aircraft maintenance technicians and maintenance support staff assigned to AAMS Production
  • Ensure that all aircraft maintenance technicians and maintenance support staff adhere to the Company MCM/MPM, Transport Canada regulations, DND regulations, TA Flight Safety program, TA Health and Safety program and QMS processes
  • Ensure Schedule adherence of modification programs to ensure on-time delivery to internal customer
  • Report on a semi-daily basis, to the Production Manager, the status of the aircraft progress
  • Develop and maintain a Technician Manpower Schedule for local operations including time sheet approval signatures and logging
  • Coordinate maintenance activities and discrepancy resolution with receiving base as required
  • Engineering support for request resolution including but not limited to dimensional checks on wing and relaying technician provided dispositions
  • Print/Monitor/Control Task Cards and Discrepancies in Aircraft binders and TA electronic record keeping system
  • Publish weekly the Technician Manpower Schedule that reflects the latest operational requirements, with at least two (2) weeks of advance notice, if possible, when travel is required for an aircraft maintenance technician
  • Ensure deployment support travel plans are arranged for employees as requested
  • Attend bi-weekly steering preparation to review the latest production schedule and plan for new taskings or changes to existing taskings for optimum use of resource assignments
  • Monitor maintenance plans on a regular basis to close all applicable aircraft tasks and discrepancies on time
  • Ensure good communication and strong relationships with local contractors and internal support teams
  • Provide managerial support to the on-site technicians
  • Ensure EHS protocols are followed throughout the base
  • Ensure that all RAMCO entries are made in a timely manner and in accordance with the MCM/MPM
  • Closely follow-up on AOG and Critical Logistics requirements and direct alternate plans if required during aircraft maintenance to ensure availability of aircraft to meet the delivery schedule on a daily basis
  • Approve Overtime requests for Top Aces local production operations
  • Travel to other bases as required by the production scheduler or the VP of Production
  • Act as the local designated official (DO) for the Controlled Goods Program
  • Represent the Production Manager in their absence as required
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the VP of Production

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience with flight and maintenance operations;
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to lead a team in a diversified and changing high tempo environment
  • Positive, professional attitude, identify and resolve issues proactively with minimal supervision
  • Hold a valid Transport Canada AME-E, AME - M2 license, preferred
  • Knowledge of RAMCO ERP, an asset
  • Proven track record to support and lead safe operations: OHS, Flight Safety, procedures, Human Factors etc.
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Airworthiness processes with Transport Canada and DND. Controlled Goods Program, Security Management, ITAR, Military and civilian maintenance. Quality Control an asset;
  • Strong communicator who disseminates and obtains information with discretion professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Fluent in English language in order to read, understand and interpret manuals, policies and procedures
  • Computer Literate: Microsoft and email applications
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands
  • Strong Business Acumen (presentations, reports, fact analysis)
  • Positive, professional attitude and the ability to take initiative and be a self-starter
  • Sense of Urgency / Focus on results and deadlines
  • Good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to perform all work in support of our Corporate Values of Service, Together, Excellence and Integrity

Working Conditions

  • Travel is required for the position
  • International travel may also be required in this role
  • The ability to work flexible work schedules according to flight operations

Supervisory, Training and Advisory Responsibilities:

Supervising, approving timesheets, and vacation requests for:

  • Aircraft Maintenance Technicians
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineers

Occupational Health and Safety Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring Employees under their direction receive adequate supervision.
  • Establishing, supporting, and consulting with Occupational Health and Safety committees and Workplace Occupational Health and Safety representatives on all matters to improve workplace Occupational Health and Safety including regular safety inspections of the workplace.

Security Clearance Requirements/ CGP / ITAR:

Position requires Level II Clearance with the Canadian Government and the ability to gain access to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
