Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Associate Director for the Office Institutional Research. The Associate Director reports to the Director of Data Analytics and Management (Director) and will be responsible for supervising an institutional research effectiveness team and IR related data analysis projects.Among the key duties of this position are the following: Manages and oversees the data capturing, extraction, reporting, and analysis to support the institutional research data needs of the Office to support university-wide, chancellor, and school operations. Plans, coordinates, and implements complex data analyses. Works with IR staff to implement analyses. Provides data-analytic support on various research projects. Conducts predictive and impact studies and developing metrics and benchmarks relating to the student experience and institutional effectiveness. Performs professional work that requires specialized to general knowledge of the field of institutional research, institutional effectiveness, and a solid understanding, use, and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, and terminology of this area of specialization. Works with IR staff to organize, analyze and submitAAUDEdata and provide related internal analysis. Acts as liaison between the Office and the Association of American Universities Data Exchange ( AAUDE ) and other agencies to ensure that the university responds to requirements and requests and is responsible for providing accurate and timely data. Bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics, statistics, social science, or in a related scientific field or discipline. A minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in the field of institutional research including data analysis, report development, data modeling, advanced analytics, using data to inform decision making, and experience in an analytical office, preferably within a higher education or other public sector setting. Certifications/LicensesRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong advanced statistical skill set, the ability to think strategically, use data from multiple sources and effectively explain insights to a broad set of audiences in written as well as verbal form. Must have robust knowledge of data management and data analysis tools, systems, and software. Proficiency in data querying (throughGUIor writing and executing code against large relational databases) and cleaning. On the job experience with tools for reporting, advanced statistical analysis and ad hoc requests; strong knowledge of data structures and ability to efficiently manipulate/query data. Must haveSAS / SPSS / STATAskills (or similar advanced data management and statistical programming skills). Experience using Tableau software; and well-developed Microsoft Excel skills (i.e., pivot tables, cross tab queries,ODBC ). Excellent analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills. Ability to flex between conceptual, big picture planning and detail-oriented research; excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail. The ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; the ability to work collaboratively and collegially with faculty and staff; the ability to work independently. The ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives on data usage. Prior supervisory experience of full-time staff of at least three years.
