Job Description

Design engineering firm is seeking an Associate Director for their Electrical team in Vancouver, BC and Toronto, ON offices. Salary range is $110,000 – $130,000. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role.Responsibilities of Associate Director:Prepares, or assists Principal-in-charge with, the development of all system engineering concepts (e.g. design brief) and concept report. Reviews and manages the design in terms of construction budgets.Performs, or arranges for, reviews of existing installation and interprets/manages the impact on the project.Prepares all calculations and selects all equipment. May assign tasks to designer and CAD Technician where appropriate.Associate Director fully understands Codes and Standards relevant for the project and is able to communicate all requirements to the internal project team, external project team, owner, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction.Ensures proper coordination of document with the internal and external project team (architect, interior designer, and other disciplines).Fully understands (construction) project procurement methodologies and is able to recommend or apply such method for the projectResponsible for reviewing all deliverables for the project whether reports, calculations, drawings, or/and specifications. Reviews for completeness and accuracy at various stages of development and as defined by internal total quality managementPromotes and enforces company standards relating to project administration, documentation and processes such as total quality managementDevelops and/or improves processes and procedures for Project Management to improve efficiencyLeads the Field Representative teams and delegates site activities to Project Managers when neededPrepares all change notices or reviews change notices issued by contract administration teamResponsible for ensuring tasks are completed both accurately and with the assigned hours/feeResponds to both technical and financial queries related to the projectSupports the process of accounts receivablePrepares and continually monitors a schedule of tasks required to complete the project including hours to perform tasks and critical data required for performanceOrganizes and attends meetings including client meetingsActively seeks opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen client relationshipsWorks with the Business Development and Proposals group to respond to proposals. Actively writes proposal responses (RFP)Leads and/or assists in human resources related activities including recruitment and selection, employee development, performance appraisals and employee relationsYou are a natural leader who thinks outside the box. You thrive when working on a variety of projects and are looking for an opportunity to meet and exceed your career goals.Qualifications of Associate Director:Possess P.Eng or C.E.T. designation.Possess 8 or more years of project engineering experience in the field of electrical building servicesDemonstrate a strong leadership qualities and ability to work independentlyDemonstrate the ability to work in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clientsPossess sound communications skills as demonstrated through client and staff relationsDemonstrate experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major projectsAssociate Director to be knowledgeable about the provincial building code, electrical code, CSA, ULC, IEEE, IES and NFPA standardsLEED certification / Experience implementing sustainable design (LEED projects) is an assetDemonstrated ability to deliver professional presentations and chair meetings with clients and at industry events.Demonstrated ability to develop lasting relationships with clients that foster strong client ties.Willingness to work over and above regular business hours to deliver projects and develop relationships with clients.Ideal Candidate:Must have vehicle and valid driver’s licenseOnly candidates with authorisation to work in Canada will be considered.Please clearly highlight relevant work experience, project overviews and project scale ($) in your resume.
