Join a Leading Real Estate Investment Trust as AVP, Technical Operations & Capital Projects and help them enhance their national portfolio. Your New Employer Your new employer is a privately owned firm that invests in commercial real estate properties across Canada. They specialize in retail and commercial assets and have a robust portfolio that spans approximately 65 million square feet. They are seeking a dynamic and experienced AVP, Technical Operations & Capital Projects to lead a team of five and oversee significant capital projects. Your New Role In this role, you will be responsible for managing over 300 national capital projects from planning through execution, ensuring project delivery goals are met by evaluating and monitoring the accuracy, quality, quantity, and timelines of project milestones and objectives. You will develop project-specific procedures, documentation, contracts, and related systems for the delivery of capital construction projects. Additionally, you will collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to develop capital budgets that enhance asset value. Your responsibilities will include preparing annual capital budgets in consultation with various teams, regularly reviewing preventative maintenance for mechanical and electrical equipment, and ensuring adherence to industry standards. You will review specifications and designs for construction and service projects, provide technical feedback, and manage the tender, fit-up, and contract management processes. Additionally, you will develop programs to ensure the safety, reliability, and durability of all building systems, ensuring code compliance and forecasting preventative maintenance projects. You will also provide leadership, coaching, and development to your team, ensuring clear direction, guidance, and support. Building a strong, engaged team and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and growth will be crucial. What Sets You Apart The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in commercial real estate and capital project planning, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. You should have at least 5 years of leadership experience, with a background in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, or a related field. You are a self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset, excellent collaboration and communication skills, and advanced technical expertise in building systems and management. You have expert-level knowledge of current building standards, codes, and legislative requirements, and are a resourceful problem solver.
