Teaching in a concept-based curriculum, the nursing faculty seeks candidates whose philosophy and commitment are complementary. In addition to teaching and research, the successful candidates may be required to participate in nursing practice with groups of students in various practice settings, simulation and/or labs.CBU teaches programs on campus, off campus in locations across and outside of Canada, and on-line.The university and its partners will therefore provide opportunities for faculty members to teach in different modes in different locations as part of their regular workload.While these opportunities may not be available equally for all faculty positions in all programs, a clear willingness to teach in different modes and locations will be noted as part of your application.Applicants are expected to demonstrate potential and commitment with regard to teaching, and service to Cape Breton University, community and profession.Successful candidates will have:A completed PhD or other Doctoral degree in a health-related field (preferred) or education;Candidates with a relevant Master’s degree in a health-related field, professional accreditation equivalent to a Master’s degree, or who have completed all the requirements for a relevant PhD but for an unfinished dissertation, may be considered for the rank of Lecturer.A minimum of five years’ experience as a Registered Nurse;An active practicing unrestricted RN license with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing (or be eligible for) prior to commencement of this position;Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring students;A commitment to nursing scholarship and research;Experience in theory-based classroom teaching.Applications for the successful candidate will include an:cover letter describing the expertise of the applicantcomplete resumestatement of teaching philosophystatement of researchevidence of effective teachinglist of least three references.Short listed candidates will be required to submit three reference letters.Please upload all required documents to Additional Documents if no designated area is listed.
