We are currently expanding and actively seeking a dedicated individual to join us as a full-time Assistant Genetic Farm Manager. This role involves providing comprehensive support to the Genetic Farm Manager, encompassing daily administration, overseeing farm operations, and managing employee tasks at our Beatty Barn, located 15 minutes west of Melfort, SK. This position reports directly to the Genetic Farm Manager of Beatty Barn.
This position will include the following responsibilities and day-to-day functions, but is not limited to:
- Leadership: Work closely with the farm manager to provide leadership and guidance to all team members.
- Help Provide coaching and training on job requirements, SOPs, biosecurity protocols, health, and safety regulations, and fostering an inclusive work environment.
- Policies and Procedures: Ensure all team members follow established SOPs and adhere to animal welfare and biosecurity requirements. Monitor and address any deviations from protocols and take corrective actions as necessary.
- Data Analysis: Assist in analyzing barn production results to identify areas for improvement including productivity, quality, and efficiency metrics, and make informed decisions to adjust the team’s daily activities to maximize production efficiency and effectiveness.
- Maintaining Equipment and Systems:
- Ensuring that ventilation, feed, and watering systems are functioning properly.
- Foster the development of troubleshooting and diagnostic skills within your team.
- Performing other general farm duties as required.
The successful candidate would ideally possess the following qualifications and experiences:
- 3+ years of swine production experience,
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills with great attention to detail,
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint),
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
- Self-motivated and reliable,
- Demonstrates a strong technical sense and understanding of swine production,
- Able to manage priorities and solve problems,
- Shares in AcuFast core values.
