Job Description

Description:Executing and/or assisting in day-to-day brewery operations with a strong desire to learn and willingness to work hard. The assistant brewer will report directly to our Head Brewer and will be actively involved in all facets of the day-to-day operation. Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:As we experience seasonal shifts due to weather and tourism, weekly tasks will change based on seasonal adjustments. The Assistant Brewer will assist the Head Brewer with all brewery tasks: Operation, cleaning, sanitization, organization & general maintenance of: Packaging equipment (canning and kegging lines), brewhouse and cellar, Tanks, hoses, other equipment, draft system and lines Assisting with brewing related issues, projectsMilling, mashing, boiling, heat exchange & transfers, fermentation management, pilot batches Fermentation monitoring, yeast management, dry hopping, transfers, CIP’s, carbonation, quality control Receiving raw ingredientsBasic brewhouse operationQuality assuranceCellar work including beer transfer, filtration, and carbonationOperating keg washerCleaning, sanitation, and maintenance of brewhouse equipment and cellarsSanitizing of tanks, filter equipment, hoses, etcKegging, canning, labelling, keg washing, line cleaning & maintenance Draft system maintenance and cleaningRecord keeping General cleaning and organizationPallet unloading & delivery helpAssisting with spent grain disposalEvent work (Beer festivals, local markets)Safe use of hand trucks, pallet jacks and all brewery equipmentSafe use of brewery chemicalsProper handling of chemicals required for sanitization and cleaning of equipmentUnderstanding and practicing all internal safety standards Requirements:Passion for all things Craft Beer with a focus on the local communityStrong work ethic & ability to work well under pressureAbility to work both independently and within a team, with minimal supervisionAbility to be on feet all day and able to lift 55+ lbs regularly & in repetitionComfortable working with chemicals and willingness to adhere to safety, environmental and brewhouse standards at all timesGood troubleshooting skills, and strong mechanical/electrical aptitude·       Employee will be required to obtain a forklift license as well as First Aid and WHIMS Training Employee will be required to work weekends and other flexible hoursGood written and verbal communication skills3+ years previous experience at a brewery as an assistant brewer, brewer, or cellarman is preferredDegree or background in biology, chemistry or engineering is a bonus but not requiredSalary & Benefits:Salary based on qualifications.Health carePaid VacationPlease send a cover letter and resume to info@dildobrewingco.caIf you are a qualified candidate, we will reply to set up a time and place for interview.
