Job Description

mcCallumSather is looking to enhance our production teams with an additional Intermediate Technologist or architect to assist the Product Document Lead on complex ICI and multi-unit residential projects. The successful candidate will work on the design and technical production teams in the development of detailed design and construction documents with a focus on providing high-quality documentation. As a member of the team, the Intermediate Technologist will actively work on select projects alongside the Production Document Lead and act as a critical support to our technical team members including our outsourcing partners. Reporting to the Production Document Lead for deliverables, the Intermediate Technologist will fulfill an essential role in the office by assisting in the preparation of contract documents, primarily utilizing BIM (Revit) to ensure a high level of quality, coordination and compliance with industry and the firms’ standards.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESAssist in the production of Contract DocumentsCoordinate consultant documents, building systems interface and provide meaningful feedback to the team membersWork independently and with other staff members on the construction document production teamEnsure CAD/Revit Standards, quality assurance and quality control procedures are followed during drawing planning and productionReview specifications and work with the team(s) in understanding the coordination processes between drawing production, detailing and specificationsInform the BIM processes and development of Revit Families. BIM is the office software of choice for mcCallumSather with AutoCAD assisting in a minor role or on small projectsSKILL REQUIREMENTExperience as an Intermediate Technologist with emphasis in the production of contract documents including consultant coordinationExcellent communication skills with the ability to engage others in open dialogue in a positive and learning mannerStrong proficiency with BIM (Revit), AutoCAD, Microsoft OfficeKnowledge and understanding of architectural standards, construction technologies and practiceUnderstanding and knowledge of current building systems, materials and all codes in practice (OBC, NFPA)Knowledge of building sciences and detailing to develop and coordinate contract documents including specificationsA clear understanding and application of sustainable design principles and high-performance envelope detailingSolid understanding of construction and sequencing of workDedication to meeting project deadlinesLEED accreditation (GA., BD+C) is an assetExperience with multi-unit, multi-storey residential, healthcare, research labs, post-secondary institutions, municipal facilities, transit and operational facilities, heritage facilitiesClear understanding of sustainable design principles and demonstrated delivery of projects that exemplify these principlesExperience working on renovations, new construction, heritage and LEED projectsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES3-5 years of regional professional experienceStrong working knowledge of the OBC (Ontario Building Code)Solid understanding of Design, Construction Documents and Contract Administration processExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to handle stressful situations in a calm and amicable mannerRigorous attention to detail and accuracyMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION/LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONDiploma/Degree in Architecture from an accredited post-secondary institution or Diploma in Architectural TechnologyEligibility for licensing or certification in the following: OAA, PEO, AATOAs part of the application process, please be informed that you are required to take a Behavioural Assessment: https://assessment.predictiveindex.com/bo/5P2Z/Technologist
