Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre (SOAHAC) is a diverse, dynamic, multiservice Indigenous health and wellness agency. We strive to provide quality, wholistic health services by sharing and promoting traditional and western health practices to enable people to live in a more balanced state of well-being. SOAHAC provides services to Indigenous people including those who live on and off reserve, status, non-status, Inuit, and Metis within the Southwest, Waterloo Wellington and Erie St Clair regions. SOAHAC has a mandate of ensuring that health services are accessible, of high quality, and are culturally appropriate. It is SOAHAC’s objective to build health care capacity within Indigenous communities. Currently, we are seeking the services of a Chiropodist to join our interdisciplinary staff team to work at both, our London & Chippewa of the Thames sites.
Reporting to the Integrated Care Manager(s), the Chiropodist is a member of an inter-professional team who performs, assesses, diagnoses, treats, provides counselling, health education, and other clinical foot care activities according to the College of Chiropodists of Ontario.
Requirements
• Diploma from a recognized school of chiropody
• Current registration with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario, without limitations
• Experience as a chiropodist in a community health or hospital setting is an asset
• Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation an asset
• Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications, including software used by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Able to respond in a positive way to demanding issues and project a welcoming, friendly personality
• Able to work well within a multi-disciplinary team environment
• Participates in staff development and team meetings as requested
• Travel within London and area, as well as, SOAHAC sites as required
• Access to reliable transportation
• Willingness to participate in Indigenous Cultural Safety Training, teachings and ceremonies.
• Clean and current police check as a condition of employment
• Up to date immunizations and records
• Have a valid ‘G’ license and access to a reliable vehicle, as schedule will flex between both sites
Responsibilities
• Ensures chiropody resources, materials and equipment are maintained
• Contributes to chart documentation, participates in chart reviews and case conferences, and
makes referrals where appropriate
• Participates in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of treatment,
education
• Counseling and health promotion programs for individuals, families and the community
