Job Description

Eaton’s ES AMER PCS CA division is currently seeking an Accounting Manager. This position is based at our Edmonton, Alberta facility and offers benefits from day one. This is an onsite position. Candidates must reside within 80km of Edmonton, Alberta.

What you’ll do:

Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for providing proactive financial service to the plant management team through innovative planning, analysis, consulting and reporting while maintaining effective control in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley and Eaton corporate policy.

In this function you will:

•    Provide accurate and timely financial analysis and reports to aid in profitably managing the business (EPC/Core) and make recommendations to compensate for variances when detected.

•    Supervise the development and communication of internal budgets and assist in the preparation of strategic and profit plans for the EPC/Core operations.

•    Develops, distributes and communicates EPC/Core plant incentive goals, performance and results and maintains accurate and adequate reserves for incentive and agent commissions.

•    Implements financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Eaton Financial policies, GAAP, local regulations and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

•    Provide accurate and timely account reconciliations.

•    Train local management on financial concepts to help them better understand the nature of the business.

•    Evaluates EPC/Core capital spending requests and develops EPC/Core capital requirements on an ongoing basis.

•    Manage the accurate and efficient processing of transactions to the accounting systems and ensures compliance with federal and provincial sales tax regulations.
 

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

•    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a business/finance focus.

•    Minimum 5 years of accounting management/controllership experience.
•    In possession of or pursuing a professional accounting designation CPA (CMA, CGA, CA, CFA).
•    Must be authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.

Preferred:

•    Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley (SOX).

•    Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
•    Knowledge of federal/provincial laws and regulations regarding taxes.
•    Understanding of foreign exchange transaction and translation reporting.
•    Knowledge of Oracle Financials and integration.
•    Strong knowledge of effective internal control processes.

Skills:

Position Criteria:

•    Advanced level of competence with Excel.
•    Ability to work with others in remote locations required – effective communication across distance.
•    Ability to build relationships with key managers and provide timely business advice are success factors.
•    Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills along with strong problem-solving abilities.
•    Must have the ability to work effectively in a team/matrix environment leveraging task prioritization and time management skills.
•    Work environment is predominantly office with some limited travel (i.e. plant visits) to better understand the business.
