About the Position:

The Corporate Finance team plays a critical role in the financial reporting of Equiton Group financial statements, the development and implementation of accounting and financial policy guidelines, and the support of investment initiatives and structures.

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will complete financial reporting, forecasting and analysis across various entities, support corporate budgets, work with external auditors to compile annual financial statements, be involved in special projects and implement updated accounting guidelines.

This position will collaborate with various teams including acquisitions, properties management, portfolio investment management, marketing and compliance to ensure we apply best practices and methodologies in acquisitions, budgets and forecasts and reporting.

The ideal candidate will be an organized leader, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, detail oriented and able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation of high-quality, effective and efficient monthly management and public reporting materials including financial statements, budget and ongoing quarterly forecast.
  • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes & internal controls
  • Participate and lead process improvement initiatives as per management directions
  • Assist in implementing a process to record transactions by department and compare costs incurred to budget and performance analysis of profit and cost centers.
  • Support Corporate Finance team through periodic close processes. This includes assistance in the preparation of workpapers supporting the monthly close process and month end balances.
  • Support leadership with preparation of reporting packages and financial notes disclosures for internal and external distribution.
  • Execute the journal entry recording of asset management, incentive fees, acquisition, disposition and other fees monthly, quarterly, annually in accordance with the respective agreements.
  • Support annual audit and review processes through preparation of workpapers and required schedules for entities
  • Ad hoc responsibilities as required

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
  • Exceptional computer skills in the operation and functioning of all programs used by the organization, i.e., Microsoft Excel, NetSuite
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Experienced in ERP implementation and automating financial reports and reconciliations
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order over these tasks
  • Solid understanding of IFRS, financial reporting and technical skills
  • Able to analyze, organize, summarize, and articulate complex legal and financial information
  • Able to read and interpret agreements, then implement the relevant provisions of these agreements
  • Strong focus on streamlining manual processes using technical skillsets
  • Strong team player with ability to quickly prioritize among numerous pressing tasks
  • Task and goal oriented and capable of functioning in an entrepreneurial and corporate setting

Education and Experience:

  • CPA designation (or in later stages of completion) is required
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in finance/accounting
  • Experience with financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting
  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, NetSuite is required
  • Experience with reporting under IFRS
