Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Supervisor, the Power Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of steam boilers in our plant environment.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with the able to work independently and as part of a team and has a willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Monitoring, operating and maintaining steam boilers and associated equipment
  • Rebuilding pumps, changing fan motors, performing pump alignments and other repairs 
  • Other duties on site as required include filling in as a serviceperson, Lubeperson or Shop Helper
  • Candidates with a Red Seal certification will have their skills utilized in other duties related to their trade as needed 
  • In certain components of this role it is mandatory to wear a respirator which requires an interference free seal


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid 4th class Power Engineering certification or higher 
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license, or equivalent, without learner’s restrictions
  • Red Seal trade certification in Millwright, Pipefitter/Steamfitter, or Welder would be considered an asset 

Base Earnings: $106,755 - $117,289

Base earnings include the hourly wage plus applicable shift premiums and will differ depending on location. It is calculated using a reasonably expected number of hours worked per year.  Pay rate is determined based on candidate certifications.

Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
